for an answer. I had tried EVERYTHING - reinstalling Word, opening it in safe mode, running detect and repair, etc., etc. After doing yet ANOTHER search (I looked for "Offset: 008dd26c") I read where deleting (or renaming) normal.dot might do the trick. Fortunately, that was the answer. Now, when I open up the file I've been trying to work on for the past THREE DAYS, I have found that the formatting has been corrupted. As others seem to have been having the same problem, I can't help but wonder if MS issued a corrupt "update" that has
When I save a 2007 word document I cant get it to open up again. It will be saved in my documents but when I try to open it up it just displays the blue background and the navigator bar at the top but my saved text never comes back up.Does your file come back zipped? When I first started using my Microsoft 2007, I had a similar problem, my files came back zipped, and I could not open them. If this is the issue, when you save your files, save as 1997-2003. It works for me. Hope this helped.Word 2007 format documents are zipped xml files given an appropriate docm/docx/dotm extension.

Avi.It sounds like a macro (either an automatic macro, like AutoExec or AutoNew or one belonging to an add-in). Have you installed any add-ins, or are you running any automatic macros? Did this just begin recently? If so, it might be a virus, or it might be that something you installed isn't working right.
in my Word for nearly a year. I have to switch computers and use an old one, then forward the document to my newer computer. It's more than just the copy/paste not working, I can't click on a Word document that is emailed and expect it to just open up in word. I must save it to my desktop, open up Word, and then open up the document. Even when I do that, I can't copy or paste. I did a little searching and found the delete the registry key advice, but my computer won't let me delete. It says unable to delete all specified values. I tried re-installing Word, but it just

When I first purchased and download Office 2007 in 2006 there was no problem opening up Word files with a double click and it's been that way up until a few months ago. Opening Excel files has so if some of them are messed up it should fix that. It's still possble that the problem isn't in the registry; we've heard (although I've never experienced it personally) that some third-party software such as antivirus programs can cause similar problems.Ok, Jay
I know its an odd question, but my computer seems to behave oddly when I open up Word 2002 - the fan keeps coming on to cool my computer down. I wouldn't mind so much, but my fan is quite loud and drowns out the surrounding environment. And it only sure the system details are all that relevant - suffice to say, its relatively new (six months old) and I only experience this problem with Word. So, what's up with that?If you're viewing the document in Print Layout view, Word is constantly doing background pagination as you edit the document. Depending on your settings, it

I have a fairly new computer: HP Pavilion Slimline s7520n PC. Recently I haven't been able to open up any documents what-so-ever. Neither can I open up Word in general. Only way it opens is in safe-mode. I haven't installed anything recently nor any drivers so I don't know what to do. Anytime I try to open word it hangs at the loading screen (the first box that comes up with Win word 2003 in it). It doesn't respond and only way to end it is by shutting of winword.exe from the processes. I've tried updating through this site but it hangs when it gets to 10% of

If the other page on the Taskbar is minimised, what is popping up behind what? How are you opening the second document?Hi, Terry, Thanks for the follow up. As an example I-net.doc is minimized on the Taskbar. In this case I opened Daily.doc by clicking on its name in the Recently Opened menu. However
I created a document a month ago, printed it but did not save it. I closed Word, and that was the end of it. The next time I opened up Word, the document reappeared. The doc appears everytime I open up Word instead of a blank doc and I cannot get rid of it or find it or delete it. I have tried the following: - renaming the file, and then trying deleting it. - deleting the file - erasing the contents of the document, typing something new and saving it. - searching for the document on my system (which is no where to be found) and deleting it that way. I never named the document, but
