When I try changing the font for text in Word 2002, Word stops responding (freezes). I've tried both the repair and reinstall utilities, but the problem persists. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, MikeThis could indicate a damaged printer driver. Try deleting and reinstalling the printer.
I can open MS Word and open a document, however, when I try to access "File" "Page Setup". MS Word hangs and I get notified that MS Word Not Responding. How do I resolve this?Problems with the Page Setup, Format Font, Format Paragraph, Insert Symbol, Format Style, and Print dialogs can indicate a problem with the printer driver. Try deleting and reinstalling your printer. You might try renaming Normal.dot.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled MS Word 2003 in new Dell computer. Word and Excel in My Documents hang in Save and Open with message displayed every time Save As Not Responding, Open Not Responding. Eventually open after hanging for 30 seconds. Microsoft website has no information. Dell have no ideas other than uninstall reinstall. Has not made any difference. Have also done Defrag. If you're running Symantec/Norton AntiVirus, try disabling the Office Plugin that comes with it. (1) I am having an unacceptable number of messages that "Microsoft Word is not responding and is closing. You may loose data." It scrolls to the end and closes. (2) It is taking much too long (30-40 seconds) for Microsoft Word to load. With no other program running, I am frequently getting at the same time the message: "Navw32.exe is attempting to access the Internet" I am using a Dell Dimension 4600 series, Intel Pentium 4 Processor at 2.4GHz, Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, Microsoft Office 2000 Professional and Charter Cable Broadband.I have been having

and the page # count on the bottom taskbar was growing /counting up.. it went up to @ 2900 pages and counting before it finally crashed (not responding) I was able to end task the document and I ran a virus scan which came clean. I then deleted and re-detached the document again. I embedded objects? If so then that could be a cause of your problem. From what I can gather it has to do with the paragraph the object is anchored to. Word is attempting to keep the paragraph on the page, and since the object is also anchored to the paragraph it's trying to keep it on the page, so
when i try to save an edited document to a server and use the 'save as' menu function, the message is that it is 'not responding' and the drop down box disappears. fully patched and all service packs applied to Word 2003. any ideas?Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop, left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped drives that are not currently available.thanks for the advice. i won't be in front of the pc until monday or tuesday. i will give your post a try and let you know.
using "save as" I find that it gets extremely slow or hung up the pull down menu for "save in" does not come up at the top of the dialog box it says "(Not Responding)". If I wait two minutes or so (which is forever if you are used to it coming up with a click) it will eventually find it. I am not sure if it is a RAM issue as it seems to occur more often at the end of the day. Any suggestions or thoughts? Word seems to be acting "quirky" as the Outlook email editor as well.Sounds like a broken/redundant connection set up in Explorer. Open

I am using Word 2003. I use documents set up with a series of styles; Paragraph, Character and Table styles. Some documents which I have been using happily for a long time have suddenly locked; they open but immediately the CPU usage shoots up to 100% and I get "Not responding". I have to shut the document down. At the same time i notice that a table on the front page (which all my documents have) has changed; its table style is defined, but it does not appear in that style. (Because of the "Not responding" position, I can't see whether the Style has redefined
Someone please help me! I am using Windows Vista Home Premium, Office 2003 and on a network. At various times while using Word, it will freeze up and say (Not Responding) and I have to force quit the application. This happens if I try to open more than one Word file, or if I just have only one open and try to print, or pretty much anytime I'm using Word for more than 5 minutes. One techy from Dell support told me that I may need to uninstall Office and re-install, but somehow, i don't think that will work. Has anyone had thisSounds far more like an incompatible or corrupt

When in Word 2003 and/or Outlook 2003 with XP with all of the updates I started getting the 'not responding' error message. When I follow that trail I get 'CicerdIWndFrame'. When I google that I get into a car advertisement never seen before nor can I find it on my machine. What's up?The "Cicer" part of that string suggests that there may be an error in Speech Recognition. If you have that enabled, try disabling it.
the screen, I get this message "Microsoft Word (not responding)." Then I get a window that says "Microsoft Word is not responding. If you restart or close program, it will try to recover your information." Close the program Wait for the program to respond. Any suggestions.See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProblemsStartingWord.htm . Many of
Word stops responding very often. I haven't noticed any special circumstance; I'm using Word 2003, but this error has been present since XP. Any know workaround will be appreciated.Melvin This is often because you have Speech and/or handwriting Recognition active - even though you are nor using it. You need to deactivate it.
Word is freezing and then saying it is "not responding" when trying to save a document to My Documents. I looked on all the knowledge base articles and did everything they suggested. I uninstalled McAfee, I repaired office, I uninstalled and re-installed office, I cleaned up the hard drive, and closed all applications when saving. The drive has 80% free space so I know that is not the problem.
